What the students said about the 2011 trip: "It was the most AMAZING experience of my life! It really opened up my eyes to new things and it was quite a culture shock but in a good way" - Rachael " The Engineering Link Group china trip for 2011 was mind blowing to say the least. This was the first time I had experienced a culture other than my own and it was very unique, one of a kind experience. We stopped at all the major cities such as Shanghai, Xian, Huangzouh and Beijing where we stayed in luxurious resorts. While at these cities we visited the popular tourist attractions such as the acrobatic troupes, The Great Wall, the terracotta warriors, the silk markets and also China's MagLev train and High Speed rail network. Nanchang however was different, we lived at the university accommodation which was much different to the hotels we had been staying in. while at Nanchang we had lectures from the Chinese professors and took part in an engineering project where we planned a hypothetical railway taking into account all the important engineering aspects. At Nanchang we weren't there as tourists but living with and getting involved with the students there so we could really get involved and experience Chinese culture to the fullest. The trip overall was really great and has probably been one of the most interesting and amazing experience of my life so far. The leaders Greg, Paul, Lesey, Phil, Marilyn John, Sandra did an absolutely amazing job of organizing the trip." - David "The highlight of the trip for me would have to be at ECJT University. I really enjoyed learning about the railway engineering in China; the Chinese lecturers were very good at explaining and teaching us about the engineering and the railway in China. Also, it was great how we got to talk to the Chinese students at the ECJT University. I never thought that since we are from different countries we would have many things in common. This experience has helped me decide/narrow down which type of engineering I want to study at university in 2013 and it has been a valuable, once in a lifetime opportunity." - Tara If you would like further information, or would like to join us in China in 2012, simply complete the form below and we'll keep you in touch with the latest developments!
