The
Engineering Link Group, in cooperation with the Smallpeice Trust of the United
Kingdom, SKM and Thiess, offer
four scholarships to be taken in the UK in July of each year. These
scholarships are for a duration of approximately 2 weeks, and comprise of 4
days at the Smallpeice Trust’s Engineering Management Skills course, and 8 days
touring London and the surrounding countryside.
The
Smallpeice Trust is an independent educational charity in the
United Kingdom that provides a highly respected and professionally executed
programme to promote engineering as a career to young people. Courses
provide a great chance for young people to enjoy the unique opportunity of
working with engineers from industry, experienced professionals and technical
specialists, on residential courses at universities or taking part in STEM
enrichment activities arranged in schools.
Students
will travel to the UK in July 2009, accompanied by two teachers, to attend the
Smallpeice Engineering Management Skills Course held at the University of
Greenwich. Focusing on aspects of planning, communication, projects and
building relationships, the course offers the opportunity to build on
management skills, which are essential for personal development and a future
career in engineering management. Students will also do some
sightseeing in London and its surrounds (Stonehenge, Salisbury etc).

all eligible students, specifically those who attend the annual Engineering
Link Project sessions for the full four days.
