Sydney STEM Project – Year 8 and 9 students
- Wednesday 10 April 2024 – 9.30 am to 2.30 pm
- WestConnex Motorway Control Centre, 33 Burrows Road, St Peters, Sydney

- Schools can register up to 3 teams (3 students per team).
Through a variety of hands-on activities, this day-long workshop will culminate in a competition where the students design and build a bridge in teams and test it to destruction. The team whose bridge holds the largest mass will be declared the winner.
The teams will be mentored by engineers from Transurban, who will also be present to answer questions, talk about their careers, and inspire the students to consider engineering as a possible career option.

Objectives of workshops:
- to demonstrate to students that the concepts they are learning in school are relevant in the real world
- to highlight to teachers the links between what they are teaching in school to the real world
- to connect students and teachers to professional engineers and graduates to help them understand what it’s like to work in the engineering industry and give them an idea of the different careers available
- to connect students to engineering graduates to help them understand what it is like to study engineering
- connect students from different schools with one another
