M7-M12 Integration Project Bridge Competition
We are pleased to bring the M7-M12 Integration Project Bridge Competition to New South Wales for the first time. The M7-M12 Integration Project will include over 40 new and upgraded bridges. To coincide with construction, we want students to build their strongest bridge using only store-bought spaghetti and glue!
Get ready for the ultimate showdown! We are taking over the M7 Motorway Control Room in Eastern Creek for the main event and it’s going to be live-streamed. If you can’t make the testing location, just courier/post your bridge to us and we’ll record the test for you. Catch it live or dive into the recording later.
Testing Day
Testing will occur on Friday 9th August 2024 (the start of Engineering Week). Teams are asked to arrive between 9.30 and 10.15 am to register their bridges. Testing will start at 10.30 am.
Location of Testing:
M7 Motorway Control Room, 101 Wallgrove Road, Eastern Creek
Free Teacher Webinar
TELG and Transurban will be holding a free webinar about the Competition on Wednesday 1st May 2024 (3.15 pm for a 3.30 pm start)
Transurban engineers and TELG staff will explore the physics and engineering of bridges, as well as provide hints and tips on the competition itself and a question and answer session at the end. We will also provide a link to the recording of the webinar for all registered participants.
Prizes:
In 2024, a total prize pool of $2000 (thanks to Transurban) will be shared across 4 teams. All prizes are presented to the team’s school for distribution as it sees fit, but we encourage the schools to pass on the prize money to the team.
- First Place – Largest Peak Load – $1000
- Second Place – $500
- Third Place – $250
- Transurban Award – $250
Note: Teams are only eligible for one prize.
Expression of Interest to participate is now open!
Schools who complete the expression of interest form will be sent 1 load hook.
Once schools have organised a team/s, please complete and submit the full registration form – available in the “Competition Resources Folder” (link below) – as soon as possible. If you would like any additional load hooks, please email us with the number required. We will collect the load hooks back at testing. If you decide not to participate, we would appreciate the hooks returned at your earliest convenience.
All forms and other information can be downloaded from the Competition Resources Folder (see button below).

What is the M7-M12 Integration Project?
Have you heard about the NSW Western Sydney Airport? Transurban is building new connections to get you there and many other places in Western Sydney. There are three big pieces of work to make this happen.
- M7-M12 Interchange: a new connection between M12 and the M7
- Elizabeth Drive Connection: a new connection between the M12 Motorway and Elizabeth Drive, including the realignment of Wallgrove and Cecil Roads
- M7 Widening: a new lane in each direction between the M5 and Richmond Road
