Engineering Link in 2017

As 2016 draws to a close, we are very pleased to announce our calendar for 2017.  Please note these dates in your diary and keep an eye on our Facebook page and Register Page for updates and details.  We are still negotiating with universities and organisations to add more workshops.

We are very grateful to our tertiary partners for hosting and supporting these events.

Engineering Link Projects

TELG continues our primary objective of providing hands-on experiences for Year 10, 11 and 12 students with real engineers.  Our first Project kicks off in Melbourne in April and they continue across three states until October.   To find out more about an ELP, click here.

  • University of New South Wales (Sydney) – April 10 & 11*
  • CQ University (Rockhampton) – June 26 & 27
  • Queensland University of Technology – July 6 & 7
  • James Cook University (Townsville) – July 17 & 18
  • James Cook University (Cairns) – July 20 & 21
  • Victoria University (Melbourne) – October 4 & 5

Spaghetti Bridge Project

We are very excited to announce that the Spaghetti Bridge Competition is back in 2017.  Thanks to a new major sponsor (announcement about that soon), we will be offering three different competition dates in Brisbane and Townsville in August.  Free professional development for teachers and curriculum materials for participating schools will underpin this exciting opportunity.  Students from years 7 to 12 are encouraged to compete for cash prizes.  For more details, click here.

Linking Engineers and Scientists with Teachers

Our very successful professional development workshops will continue across the country in 2017.  Dates are still being finalised, but there will be events in Townsville, Rockhampton and Brisbane in May, Sydney (May and October) and Bendigo (April).  Our PD workshops are BOSTES accredited (for those of you in New South Wales).

Regional Engineering Projects

A mix of student workshops and teacher professional development in regional Australia again proved very popular in 2016.  We will be returning to Lismore and Orange in October 2017, thanks to our host schools – Kadina High School and The Canobolas Rural Techncial High School.  For more details, click here.

If you would like to be added to our mailing list, please complete the form to the right of this post, and you’ll receive updates regularly (but not too regularly) in your inbox.

From Paul and I, we would like to thank all of the students, teachers, school and engineers for their support and encouragement this year and we wish you a very Merry Christmas and relaxing holiday period.  We look forward to working with you again in 2017.
