7:00 am - 8:30 am
An opportunity to get up close and personal with engineers, at Sydney’s largest Motorway Control Centre. A unique opportunity to see how the largest network of tunnels is managed, and discuss how it and many other opportunities and concepts can be incorporated into your teaching.
Share ideas with fellow STEM teachers, make lasting connections and discover why engineering can be a brilliant source of inspiration for you and your students.
Brief Agenda
- Register and welcome over Breakfast
- Presentation – Transurban Engineer
- Site Visit – WestConnect’s Motorway Control Hub
- Sharing Curriculum and Teaching Ideas
- Analysing real data (mathematics)
- Building your own exhaust fan/wind turbine (science and engineering)
- Water treatment (environmental science)
And the best thing – the whole thing is FREE!
There will be time dedicated to reviewing projects with the engineers, exploring new opportunities, and networking with your peers.
Some feedback from teachers who’ve attended a LEwT in the past:
- I felt this was one of the best in-services I have been to. I will be keen again next year – thank you.
- I found the opportunity to meet and network with engineers invaluable.
- Sharing of resource ideas and witnessing the application of, particularly, mathematical concepts in a real-life scenario was very valuable.
- Keep up this excellent format.
