Another Successful Year

2014 Winding Up

2014 has been an extremely busy year for TELG. 2014 was the first time we have operated full time (thank you Lloyd’s Register Foundation and Thiess) and we have significantly increased the opportunities for students, and in particular, the teachers of Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.

We are very proud of our achievements. You can read about each of our Projects by downloading the reports – http://www.telg.com.au/Reports.html

To summarise:

  • 390 students attended our Engineering Link Projects in Melbourne, Cairns, Townsville, Rockhampton, Brisbane, Mount Isa, Toowoomba, Sydney and China. (this is a 34% increase over 2013).
  • 85 teachers received professional development at our LEaST projects (we didn’t hold any in 2013, so we are particularly excited about this!). Workshops were held in Melbourne, Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Sydney and Mount Isa.

We are very grateful to the support that The University of Queensland gave us from 1999 to 2013 but that relationship ended this year. However, we are very pleased to begin what we anticipate will be a long and productive association with Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane. If this year’s project is anything to judge by, then the South Queensland events will be even bigger and better.

We would like to acknowledge and thank the organisations and institutions that supported us (both financially and in-kind) in 2014:

  • Lloyd’s Register Foundation
  • Thiess
  • Engineers Australia (Qld Division)
  • James Cook University
  • CQUniversity
  • Queensland University of Technology
  • La Trobe University
  • LEAP into Engineering
  • TransGrid
  • University of Technology Sydney
  • University of Southern Queensland

We are also extremely grateful to the engineers and their companies that ran our modules and worked with our students and teachers. Without their support, we would be in as strong a position to provide quality experiences for our clients.

We are currently putting together the 2015 Calendar of events. There are some very exciting initiatives being planned and we look forward to giving you more details as they become finalised.
